A Greener Conference

As many of you are doing in your private lives, we at the Artist Management Conference are stepping up our efforts to operate in an environmentally conscious and sustainable manner.

While far from perfect, our green initiatives to date include the following:

• Our conference program and brochures will be printed on recycled paper (with the highest percentages possible of sustainably harvested fibers, processed without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives) using vegetable-based ink
• We are implementing the use of biodegradable cups, wooden stir sticks, coffee sleeves, unbleached napkins, heavy-weight compostable utensils, and trash bags (all of which fully compost under commercial composting conditions in about 60 days)
• Glass pitchers will be used instead of plastic bottles for water (filtered)
• Recycling stations will be more prevalent and visible for use by conference attendees
• Our non-essential print materials are being eliminated or converted to digital-only formats
• We have chosen a host site that has implemented various green initiatives including:

1. Lighting conversion that reduces energy consumption by 793,300 kWH (enough energy to run an average home for 72 years).
2. Automatic faucets in restrooms and other areas that reduces water consumption by 9%.
3. Pads, folders, pens and other materials supplied by the hotel are recyclable.

We also encourage you to help us in our efforts by reusing linens on multi-night stays at the hotel. Doing so reduces the total linen laundry by 3.7 lbs per occupied room.
